Gruman's, I've missed you! We were able to finally eat your Chopped Liver Pate appy! Very delicious. Also, we ordered the Reuben Sandwich and Tuna Melt with Coleslaw and their Montreal Smoked Meat Poutine. All so good!
Great service. -

So immediately I was thrilled to see a parking lot but the parking lot is strictly reserved so you can't park there on the weekdays but you can on the weekends they told me. Which is great!!! So free parking on weekends.
Iordered:
The lox Benny - delicious especially with the twist of having the potato patty loved it
Reuban Sandwich - a bit soggy when I got it but it's cause I had it to go so probably expected
Breakfast poutine - really filling and heavy my husband liked it but was too much food for him
Homemade chips - my favourite homemade chips!
Overall great taste and great atmosphere inside reminded me of New York but after I ate this I had to go poopoos right away -

I have been craving Montreal Smoked Meat for a while now. I've been to and enjoyed the food from Grumans several times in the past. I went again today and the food was, as always, excellent. The biggest problem I had was my appetite (and budget) weren't big enough to have more items on the menu.
I had the classic Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich with a side of Bubby's chips. Both were excellent, if a bit pricy. I also had a side of pickle which was delicious if a bit salty.
This is a splurge for lunch but still extremely tasty. -

I didn't think I would end up at a Jewish deli while in Calgary but when you're freezing your butt off, you just want some good ole comfort food. I was Yelping restaurants within walking distance of the Marriott and came across a picture of matzo ball soup. Oh heck yeah. I hadn't had matzo ball soup since my last winter trip to NYC. Something about Jewish foods in the wintertime just does it for me. ;)
This is also kind of silly, but I also think of Seinfeld when I'm at any Jewish delis/bakeries. I mean, I usually think of Seinfeld regardless because duh...best show ever. But I think of Seinfeld especially when I go to a Jewish bakery because I like to pick up a chocolate babka (better than cinnamon of course) and who can think of babka without remembering that classic scene of Jerry and Elaine buying babka for the dinner party?! Well GUESS WHAT was all over Gruman's tables? SEINFELD TRIVIA, that's what. You will not believe how much I wanted to hug the entire restaurant the moment I sat down. Talk about a place made just for me.
We ordered a little bit of everything so we could try as much as we could - smoked salmon, knishes, latkes, matzo ball soup...I loved it all. It totally hit the spot and their friendly, warm service was icing on the cake. Later on, as we were shopping across the street, my boyfriend ran back here to buy one of their t-shirts for me because I liked this place that much. Best souvenir ever! -
